After winning last August two awards – one in Europe and another at national level: Europe's Leading Landmark Hotel and Portugal's Leading Hotel – the Bairro Alto Hotel is now nominated for the World Travel Awards 2014 in the category of World's Leading Landmark Hotel.

Start the night in the Flores do Bairro restaurant with a conviviality dinner and end it at the Rabih Abou-Khalil and Ricardo Ribeiro concert in Largo do Teatro Nacional de São Carlos under the initiative “Lisbon on the Street”.
The most fashionable night of the year is comming! On the 11th of September, the objective is to go out to the street and cover the neighbourhoods and the iconic streets of Lisbon where various places are going to be open until very late.
Did you know that the two large sculptures that welcome guests upon arrival at the Bairro Alto Hotel are the work of celebrated artist Rui Chafes? In the lobby you will also be able to find two benches from the 16th century.
The passion for Lisbon has crossed borders. Different articles in the international press, as well as various awards and distinctions, have been frequent in these last months. In May, Kirill Neiezhmakov, a Ukrainian specialist in timelapse, was in Lisbon and recorded various images.
Considered a historic monument in Lisbon, the Mercado da Ribeira was renovated. The Time Out Mercado da Ribeira is the new gastronomic space of the city, featuring 30 food stalls from different renowned chefs and some emblematic brands of the city. A “Must go to” during August!
Carlos do Carmo was the first Portuguese singer to be recently awarded a Grammy. Until the end of the year, an exhibition will be present at Cordoaria Nacional, in Lisbon, named "Carlos do Carmo 50 Anos" inaugurated right after the release of his album "Fado É Amor".

During the award ceremony of the World Travel Awards held last Saturday, August 2nd, in Athens, the Bairro Alto Hotel was awarded two prizes, Europe's Leading Landmark Hotel and Portugal's Leading Hotel.
The 55 rooms of Bairro Alto Hotel, including four suites, are painted in typically Portuguese colours: yellow, for the trams, ivory for linen, blue for the Tagus River and red for the Lisbon rooftops. Find out more in our gallery
